Taking time for me

Am I the only one that has neglected their own needs while caring for their children, spouse, job, home, pets, etc.? I know this is a pretty common issue for women and some men too.

I had a revelation this morning. Lap-band surgery has meant that I've HAD TO take care of myself, at least somewhat. First there was the self-care required to prep for the surgery and the after-care following it. And then there is the expense of actually paying for the surgery. There's also going in for fills, the focus on healtful eating, exercise and even buying some new clothes. All of these are things that I do, JUST FOR ME!

Overindulging in food, speacial meals and treats used to be the way I "cared" for myself. Now I care for myself by, well, taking care of myself! How cool is that?

I'd love to see a LONG post with a list of all the fabulous things you can do to take care of or reward yourself that don't involve food!!!

Does your husband think only Oregonians are cool or only Oregonians say cool?

I'm actually from SW Washington - closer up by you guys.

Glad you're taking care of you. Sometimes all the other things get in the way and we have so many excuses. But we are important too. Or should I say its so cool.

Such an insightful post! I used to do the same thing -- overeat and think that was self-care. I'm glad that's stopping!

Looking forward to what else you have to say ...

That is so cool and I agree with Amaris darn "insightful." To be honest I never thought about it like that. I think I have heard it before but not so well put. I think I have to print this off and put this in my Lap band journal.

Thanks ♥Amanda♥
