Questions about food plans

Thursdays are my weigh-in days and I am happy to report that I am down three more pounds! That is 21 since my first pre-op weigh-in five weeks ago tomorrow and 18 since my surgery four weeks ago tomorrow. I am really happy with this progress. My size 24 pants are all too big. Unfortunately I only have a couple pairs of size 22s and they are crop-pants. I am wearing a pair today despite the fact that it is pouring down rain and not really ideal short-pants weather.

I’ve been thinking about food plans today and I am curious about what you guys are doing. Are you following a food plan? I have been writing down my food and tracking my protein and calories which is very helpful for me, but it also feels kind of like a diet.

I am not eating “diet” foods. In fact, I am eating whatever I want. I am just eating small portions and trying to make good food choices. Is that a diet? Or is that what normal weight people do?

Yesterday I got some great feedback about fruits and veggies and breakfast. I talked to my co-worker about how I wanted to cook eggs and toast in the office and she was all for it. In fact, she had been wanting to have a toaster in our office for a long time. She brought in a small egg pan (we already have an oven, microwave and fridge) and we came up with a toaster so now I just need to bring eggs, cooking spray and salt and pepper. Today I am having peanut butter toast which didn’t require as many supplies.

I also brought some carrots for a snack later. I know they will take me a really long time to eat so that should be fun.

Finally I wanted to report that my BMI is now below 40 – it is 39.4. I am still officially obese (I hate that word so much!), but it is nice to be under 40.

Yay for great loss and new, lower BMI!!!! Congratulations on that. And I'm really happy to see you have support from your coworker about your breakfast foods. I totally understand that, I'm a big egg fan and I love a good breakfast.

I have a pair of black pants that are size 5 (red triangle) Lane Bryant. They would definitely work for office wear. I also have a pair of size 4 (blue circle) jeans I can send your way if you think either of those would be helpful. Let me know, you can email me your address at catchytitlehereblog@gmail.com and I'll send them.

That would be fantastic! Are you sure? I'll email you my address.

My co-worker is one of my best friends. She used to be fat and lost about 60 lbs. a couple of years ago WITHOUT TRYING. I hate her so much for that!

Woo Hoo for you too for the 21 pounds! Glad you got the toaster at work. Me-I can barely eat anything after my fill-maybe 200 calories so far today, but I hope it gets better as I don't want an unfill.

I love eggs too. I don't write down what I eat, just smaller portions. On all my diets, writing down my food was my biggest failure. Wonder why I am still fat. If you can, do it as those that write down what they eat do best.

Congrats on the 21lbs! Gosh I would love to be there. I would love to lose even a pound at this point. It's just not happening and I am stuck. I have got my fingers crossed that once I start eating solid foods again and can get in better protein and less carbs/sugar that it will start up again! I am very happy for you and your progress. Keep it up!

Congrats on the bmi no longer morbidly obese. I loved that part as well.. Also for a food plan I just eat what I want. I eat healthier like tonight I am having chicken cordon blue with salad.. Lunch a .5 can of organic amys soup. breaky mush.. You will find what works for you..

I don't write down and I try as much as possible to listen to when my stomach says its is time to eat. I also try to keep the protein up to a reasonable amount everyday. That is all-i have not counted calories or even denied myself dessert (except when I'm not hungry that is).

Now..I don't think this is necessarily the best way to do things. I think all of us need to figure out our triggers and what it was about diets that didn't work for us before. When I dieted I was a roller coaster girl..on then off then on then off. Stopping the diet was what I needed. Your way might be different.

Hey great work on the lower BMI etc. Nice going.
I refuse to write down what I eat - like you said - it feels too much like a diet. I just go with what feels right - trust me, you know when you've blown it!

I also dont have a food plan. I try to get in enough protein but other then that I think it is just finding what works best for you. I know myself well enough to know Id write down my food for 2 days then prob never do it again. Glad you got your toaster and I hope the eggs are wonderful :) CONGRATS of the weigt loss and BMI you are doing AWESOME! *hugs*
