What does losing 100 lbs. look like?

Loose skin is a big topic here in Blogland.  As we lose weight, we often notice that it isn't looking quite like we hoped it would.  Our boobs and fingers get smaller while stubborn thighs and butts seem to stay the same.  We talk about bat wings and muffin tops and tummy tucks and stretch marks.

Some people won't even consider weight loss surgery because the thought of loose skin scares them so much.  I didn't really give the subject much thought until I'd already had my surgery and I started reading about it here in the blogs.  I have to admit that I worry about loose skin now as I approach a normal BMI and realize that I probably won't ever look like I did when I was thin prior to being obese.

So I know you're all thinking, "Quit whining and show us some pix!"  I am going to ease into that because this is kind of scary.  Here are a couple of "before" pix:

When I post pictures on my blog, I really have to work at not picking apart my image.  But today only I'm going to tell you what I really think of my body now that I'm down 100 lbs. (45.4 kg.).

It's okay.  It isn't horrible, but it could be better.  I think my ta-ta's are pretty good.  They're down at least one cup size, but they aren't all saggy or weird.  And surprisingly I don't hate my stomach.  I'm not crazy about the surgery scars and it kind of looks like someone popped a balloon, but it could be worse.  I have been pregnant twice, after all.  After my first pregnancy, I lost all the extra weight and my stomach looked pretty much like it does now.  So I am okay with my stomach.  My thighs really bother me.  I went swimming on Thanksgiving and just couldn't get over how much extra skin (and fat) there is there.  I think even at my ultimate goal weight, my thighs will look fat.  I've never seen my ass until I took these pictures and the truth is, I thought it would look worse.  I've always kind of had a fat ass.  My arms have bat wings, but they aren't horrible.  So perverts, without further ado, here's what losing 100 lbs. looks like:

I am sorry for the bad pictures and the editing.  I want to "bare all", but I may want to get another job someday so I have to be a little modest too.  I also wasn't brave enough to have someone take the pictures so I took them myself at work.  I think you get the idea.  Anyways...be kind!

I see my future....lol. Honestly it's not that bad. I'd rather be thin & look great in clothes (and be healthy) then still be overweight and miserable. I have cellulite, and will probably sag in the midsection as well. But if I can put on that pair of skinny jeans and hot boots (that go over my calves), and wear cute dresses in the summer, honestly it will all be worth it to me. I just want to feel comfortable in my own skin....even if there's extra!

Yes, you sure are brave! And I am so impressed with YOU!! You're looking terrific - and you've done such a good job! Flaunt it!!

You were too quick with the next post, I was going to leave you a big hug on yesterday's post, and "shout out" well done to you. Today is even better though, because you are encouraging us all to see ourselves how we are, and the first comment from Blossom I think says it well - that the weight loss will enable you to look great with clothes on, and anything else is a bonus, and doesn't really matter. You have minimal loose skin, and it's difficult to believe that you were once 100lb heavier. Bloody well done Amanda!

First of all, you don't have any good arm pics, but from the ones I can see, there aren't any batwings! secondly, you stomach looks awesome! i hope mine will look that good. the scar, from what i can see, is a non-issue. you look hot! good job!

I hope I do as well as you. Thanks for sharing, I don't know what was braver, posting these or taking them at work, lol!

Not bad really! I love the hearts over the boobies lol! Very brave of you! Not many people look great with all their clothes off except supermodels, the rest of us all have issues, so as long as I can look good in clothes and decent in a swimsuit, I don't mind. And I think you pull it off well! Congrats again!

You are one brave soul!!!

With that out of the way...

You look great! From where I'm sitting, you look like everything could be related to childbirth and age and not to 100 lbs lost. I'm not saying you are old because you are certainly not. But age and childbirth do take their toll. And from watching my mom grow older...well...she was never 100 lbs overweight (let alone 20) and she actually looked the same.

I think you are beautiful and, not telling you what to do, but I think you should be proud of where you are and how you've gotten here - that's how I would feel if I looked as good as you. You are a true inspiration...and a brave one, too.

Not bad at all! I commend you for being so brave to take these pictures. Maybe one day I will be that brave! I'm glad your boobs stayed decent. Mine sure didn't! They are deflated balloons for sure!

congrats on your victory!

Oh my goodness you are so brave! To be totally honest, I hope I look that GOOD when I am done losing. Seriously, it's not half as bad as I thought it might be! You really should be so proud of yourself and wow, what a brave soul to post these. You are awesome!

You look wonderful because you have lost weight proportionally all over your body. Your face BTW looks very thin.

I'm being honest but you look really beautiful and healthy.

I also think you look terrific. Your thighs don't look bad to me. I know we are always the most critical of ourselves but I want to assure you, you look very good.

Amanda, in that sideways shot all I could think was, "Look how flat her stomach is!" You look fantastic.

You have done unbelievably well with your band. Congratulations on seeing the results of all your hard work!

Ok - I love the hearts!!

I think you look rockin' hot. My boobs have never looked that good - I swear they've been in a race to see who gets to my knees first since I was 16 years old.

But really - I am so tremendously proud of you just for taking the pictures - forget about posting them (I haven't wrapped my head around that level of bravery and confidence yet) - but just taking them and owning who you are - that's truly amazing and something you should be extremely proud of!

Wow. I echo brave. Which in a way I wonder if that comes out sounding bad, as if it's a statement with the undertone of some statement to the effect that you don't look good enough to post something of you nude, etc etc. But it's late and I think too much.

(P.S. I beat you on sagging. ;) P.P.S. I heart your boobies. I wish I wasn't losing as much meat from my own. )

Thanks so much for sharing these pics. I am hoping 100 lbs down I'll have the courage to do pictures like these - and hope I look as good as you do in them. Congrats on your great weight loss.

CONGRATS ON LOSING 100 POUNDS!!!! That's such an amazing accomplishment! And how brave of you to post nekkid pictures of yourself. When I did that (wearing bra/panties) I nearly had a heart attack when I pushed the "submit" button. Doesn't thin just feel so much better than fat? Congrats to you!!!

you look great! I hope to look half that good when I meet my goal weight. Your body looks like you had kids, nothing major, a part of life. :)

I found your pics when I googled 100 lb before and after nude pics. Since my doc has informed me that 100lbs is how much he wants me to loose. I was so scared because although I am full figured I am smooth. I am very busty and have awful bat wings. I currently weigh 267 and I'm 5'7". Seeing your pictures makes me feel a whole lot better about this journey I am about to begin. You look great thank you so much for sharing. You have truly inspired me.

Thank you so much for your brave and honest post. I am just starting my journey to lose 100 lbs over the next year. I am terrified that the loose skin will look worse than being fat. I just want to feel beautiful again. Your post set my mind to ease. If I look like you after 100lbs, I will be happy.

Actually, you look pretty good! How are you doing now 2 years later? I've heard loose skins after weight loss tends will shrink a bit over time.
Thanks Much for the insight!

That is probably what my body will look like too. I'm only 24, but my weight has fluctuated so much already....but stick with it! Your body completely renews itself every 7 years - your skin will get tighter :)

You look great. I found an exercise for my breasts in Stephen Chang's book, that said you place your hands on the outsides of your breasts and move your hands under your breasts in circles molding your breasts as you go. It works. All you can do it try. I lost 60 lbs years ago and my breasts looked better afterwards then before. Just a note. Beautiful woman.

Howdy, firt time finding and reading your post, you look great.
I almost had the surgery, still considering, you are an inspiration, I have lost 50 lbs it has taken a while, I have about 100 more to loose, so surgery would make it so much quicker, I have to start the whole process again which i do not like.
I have to be careful, with all the negative comments regarding the surgery.
Thank you for sharing and encouraging.
